![]() showroom is a walk through the history of woodwork and designs both ornate and simple. Some tables in their collection go back to the early 19th century. They also will build custom tables to spec. That is the ultimate stamp of craftmanship. It has a silver plate with the Blatt insignia on the foot rail. I hadn't known that the wood was "Tiger Oak," since the original grain always had paint or stain covering it at different stages of its middle- and old-age. ![]() What I got back from Blatt and his team of sanders, carvers, and stainers (from the shop in New Jersey) was essentially a work of art. It needed new leather in the pockets and a new ball box, since my table had the old fashioned "subway" tracks where the ballsget deposited. ![]() It had to be sanded down, refinished, have new mother of pearl diamonds inset into the rails to replace the old ones that were missing you name it, my table needed it. That’s totally subjective - I suspect there is, to some, a bit of a UWS vs UES rivalry. Includes the menu, user reviews, photos, and highest-rated dishes from Amsterdam Billiard Club. UES had worse transit (IMO), and felt snobbier and more expensive than UWS. The table, a 5 x 10 model cherished in my family since it was acquired by my father in 1957, was in dire need of refurbishing. I will add, as a former resident of UWS and WashHeghts, that I liked both more than the UES. I owned an Atlantic Buffalo, a table made by Atlantic Billiards, based in Brooklyn, in 1920. Blatt Billiards, which has been doing business in Manhattan since the 1920s, has in its collection some 3,000 antique tables. ![]()
